(a) Symbiosis: In symbiosis both the interacting species are benefitted. The most fascinating example is found in plant-animal relationships. Plants need the help of animals for pollinating their flowers and dispersing their seeds. Animals are paid in the form of juicy and nutritious fruits. Example lichens.
(b) Parasitism: In parasitism one partner receives an advantage while the other is at a loss. Parasite enjoys free lodging and meals at the cost of the host. The life-cycles of parasites are often complex, involving one or more intermediate hosts. The parasite harms the host-they may reduce growth, revival and reproduction of the host. Example: plasmodium.
(c) Predation: a predator catches and kills other organisms for food. Predation is nature’s way of transferring energy. Example: tiger, deer.
