Answer:

A motion repeating itself is referred to as periodic or oscillatory motion. An object in such motion oscillates about an equilibrium position due to a restoring force or torque. ... This motion is important to study many phenomena including electromagnetic waves, alternating current circuits, and molecules.

Oscillatory Motion:

When any object moves over a point repetitively then this types of motion of the object is the Oscillatory Motion. In the complete vaccum , the ideal condition can be approached as air will not be there to stop the object in oscillatory motion friction.

                           Eg: Pendulum.

Types of Oscillatory Motion:

  • Linear oscillatory motion
  • Circular oscillatory motion

Linear Oscillatory Motion:

In linear motion , the object moves left and right or up and down . Some examples of linear motion:

  • The vibration of strings of the musical instruments.
  • Floating of ships or big vessels in the sea.

Circular Oscillatory Motion:

Inn the circular motion, though the objects moves left to right but in circular form. Some examples are:

  • The motion of the solid sphere in a half hollow sphere.
  • The motion of the pendulum in watch.
