Osmosis is the process of movement of water molecules ( solvent ) from their level of higher concentration to the level of lower concentration through semipermeable membrance.

Note : In osmosis only solvent molecules can pass from the region of higher concentration to region of lower concentration.

In Diffusion : It is the movement of substance ( solvent and solute ) from the region of higher concentration to the region of lower concentration through permeable membranes.

Note : In Diffusion both solvent and solute can pass through membranes .
