the movement of the water molecules from a region of their higher concentration to a region of their lower concentration across a semi premeable membrane is called osmosis a soil solution is a dilute solution aa compares to the cell sap of the root hair.The concentration of water molecules is higher in the soil than the root hair cells .because of this osmosis occurs and the water is absorbed from the soil by the root hair through the cell membrane
