HELLO FRIEND!

Let me start my answer with a little explanation.

What is diffusion?

Diffusion is the process by which molecules of a solid, liquid or gas move from a higher concentration to a lower concentration.

What is Osmosis?

Osmosis is the process by which solvent molecules (only) move from their higher concentration to their lower concentration (dilute solution to concentrated solution) through a semi-permeable membrane until equilibrium comes.

Thus, we can conclude from the above, that in both Diffusion and Osmosis, there is a movement of particles from their higher concentration to their lower concentration.

Osmosis is just like diffusion, only the difference is that, diffusion does not involve a semi-permeable membrane whereas osmosis involves a semi permeable membrane.

Hope you get my answer.
Thanks!

Hey!

Osmosis is the movement of water molecules through such a selectively permeable membrane. It is a type of diffusion.

Osmosis is affected by the amount of substance dissolved in water. Osmosis is the passage of water from a region of high water -concentration to low water concentration region.

Osmosis is of 2 types -:

Exosmosis
Endosmosis

Ex-osmosis - Process by which water moves out from cell, in this case the cell shrinks. Example - When we spray salt on cucumber pieces, water comes out from cucumber pieces and cucumber piece becomes loose and loose weight.

En-osmosis - Process by which water moves in the cell, in this case the cell swells up. For example- When we put raisins in tap water, and raisins swells up and gain some weight.
