Internodes are the spaces between the nodes of a plant. A node is a single focal point from which different lateral parts of a plant grow out. For example, branches, flowers, buds and leaves grow from nodes on the main trunk or stem of the plant.
Internode lengths in plants are determined by various environmental factors and influences and can be changed through appropriate catalytic methods in the laboratory.
Sugarcane generally has an internode length of a few metres while fenugreek has a length of only a few centimetres. On an average, sugarcane internodes are at a distance of 2000mm – 3000mm while fenugreek internodes are at a distance of 20cm – 30cm.
