Subject: Lack of civic amenities in Seemapuri

Respected Sir,

I am a resident of Vasundhara Enclave, Seemapuri. I would like to draw your attention towards the pathetic condition of Lal Bagh slum, near Vasundhara Enclave, Seemapuri.

Lal Bagh is one of the biggest slum of Asia It provides residence to over fifty thousand people, but the living conditions are appalling. There is no drainage system, which leads to accumulation of dirty water on street. This becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes and can be dangerous to the residents of Seemapuri. Lal Bagh does not have proper electric supply and street lights are also not present. This is particularly dangerous for women who are outside after dark. Waste management is also a problem, the slum dwellers dispose the garbage on roads which leads to unhygienic conditions and road accidents. Water supply is also erratic.

The situation is devastating, but with the help of everyone the problem can be solved. The government should take steps to ensure adequate supply of water and electricity. Street lights should be installed. People of Vasundhara Enclave should also come together and interact with slum dwellers and sensitise them.

At last, I request you to publish my letter in your esteemed newspaper for the betterment of the residents of Seemapuri.
