Our body needs iron certain food are rich in Iron and iron tablets are usually recommended by doctor but neither the food not the tablets are hard like Iron because they are primarily available in the form of Oxides. This actually changes total properties of iron. Secondly iron is available in very small quantities which is spread across the whole food or supplement. This can be better understood by an example-
Suppose there is a food or a supplement of 50gms or atleast 5gms. Now in 50gms food usually it can only sustain 5mgs or in 5gms supplement it can only sustain mgs Iron. Tertiarily our body can exclusively digest only organic matter other that sodium chloride. That's why food is in itself an organic matter, thus it contains the most dilute amount of iron. Also supplements are made in such a way that the body can digest and can handle it.
