Indian constitution is made for equality among all.

Because the constitution makers wanted to ensure that no one is discriminated on the grounds of race,class,religion,gender,etc so that the citizens of India can lead a free and problem free life.

but all are not followed by everyone. the best eg is religion
Its their choice but as the question was about the purpose of those rights so I answered enumerating only the purposes and not the choice of everyone following everything.
