Our grandmothers often advise that new born babies should be exposed to sunlight. Does this have any
scientific reason? Substantiate your answer with any two relevant points.

The sensitive skin of newborn babies needs to be protected from every harmful effect of heat, cold or moisture. Keeping your baby away from direct sunlight between 10 am to 4 pm is a good idea. ... The UV rays provide great health benefits especially when proper care and attention is given to the baby....

Yes it does has a scientific reason.and it is this that new born babies born with jaundis and it can be cured only by giving vitamin d.we already know that we can get vitamin d from sunlight. That's why new born babies are exposed to sunlight.( As babies can't take vitamin d tablets.....)(a yellow colour in body is called jaundis)
