our hand hurts more when we hit the wall then when we hit a sponge seat of a car. state the newtons second law and explain the following.

the sponge compresses when we hit it. The impact time of the force is increased, and thus the force becomes less. but, in case of a wall, the impact time is very short (which is the amount of time the force is transferred for) because the wall is hard, and the force is more.

Wall will hurt more because impulse is more in that case. Impulse is given by force applied into average time. Time of collision in case of sponge is more as compare to that of wall. So wall will hurt more.  

Impulse implies hurt.
