Our national flag was adopted in 1947. It consists of three horizontal strips. The top
most strip is of saffron colour, the middle one of white and the lower most of dark
green. In the centre of the white strip is a wheel in navy blue colour. The wheel is
taken from the Sarnath lion capital of Ashoka. The colours of flag represent courage
and sacrifice, truth and peace, and faith and chivalry. The wheel is the symbol of
ancient culture of India. We must learn how to respect our national flag. It should
not be wrapped to any person or any thing. No other flag should be hoisted above the
national flag. Long live our tricolour!
