Boy u need to be corrected, our small intestine do not produce HCl, HCl in body is only secreted in stomach whereas our small intestines have alkaline or basic medium

it doesn't harm because it contains mucus in its inner layer which protects inner lining of stomach from the action HCL(under normal condition)
