Our teacher has stated a rule in English Grammar that when using 1st person, the modal verb 'shall' should be used and while using 2nd or 3rd person, 'will' should be used.
(I doesn't make much sense to me)
Can anyone confirm this theory for me?
Example: "I shall do my homework" -correct
"I will do my homework" -wrong
"Yes, my son will study hard for the exams." -correct
"Yes, my son shall study hard for the exams." -wrong

Yes, but is there a theory for why it can't be used? I have never ever heard of this rule before.
