saliva is mildly acidic (almost neutral) that's why it's tasteless and our taste buds can't taste it

kvnmurty: saliva has a little taste.... there is difference in the tastes of saliva and of water. We are so much used to the mild taste of saliva, that we feel that is tasteless.
