saliva is mildly acidic (almost neutral) that's why it's tasteless and our taste buds can't taste it

Saliva has a little taste.... It tastes mildly acidic & sour. There is difference in the tastes of saliva and of water. We are so much used to the mild taste of saliva, that we feel that is tasteless.
