our window is a magic frame.
with pictures never twice the same.
Sometimes it frames a sunset sky,
where clouds of gold and purple lie.
And sometimes on a windless night,
it holds a great moon round and white)
Sometimes it frames a lavvn and flowers, ,
where children play through summer hours.
Sometimes a tree of gold and red,
and grass where crisp brown leaves are shed.
Sometimes it shows the wind-blown rain,
or snowflakes cold against the pane.
Our window frames lovely things,
That every changing season brings.

1. The poet calls the window a magic frame for two reasons. First, the window presents an unending variety of views. It is almost like the window is a photo frame that contains so many pictures and the pictures are “never twice the same”, meaning the pictures are not repeated. Each day the window presents a different view, of trees, children playing, the changing seasons and so on.

Secondly, the view that can be seen through the window changes automatically. No one is putting in efforts to change the seasons. It happens on its own, almost magically.

2. Possible titles for the poem:

  • Looking through the magic frame
  • Magical window
