Given : Total distance travelled = 1900 km.
Average speed of the bus = 60 km/h
Average speed of an aeroplane = 700 km/h.
Total time taken to complete the journey = 5h.

Let the distance travelled by bus = x km & the Distance travelled by aeroplane = 1900 - x.

Time taken by bus = x/60            [ Time = distance/speed]
Time taken by an aeroplane =1900- x / 700

Total time = Time taken by bus +Time taken by an aeroplane

Total time = x/60 + (1900- x) / 700
5 = [700 x + 60(1900 - x) ]/42000
5 × 42000 = 700x + 114000 - 60x
5 × 42000 = 700x - 60x + 114000
5 × 42000 = 640 x + 114000
210000 - 114000  = 640 x
96000 = 640x
x = 96000/640
x = 150

Hence, the Distance travelled by bus = 150 km.

Solution :-

Total distance travelled = 1900 km

Let the distance travelled by bus be 'x' km

And, the distance travelled by aeroplane = (1900 - x) km

Total time taken = 5 hours

Let the time taken to complete the journey by bus be 'y' hours.

Then, time taken to complete the journey by aeroplane = (5 - y) hours

Speed of the bus = 60 km/hour

Speed of the aeroplane = 700 km/hour

We know that,

Distance = Speed*Time

So, for bus -

⇒ x = 60*y

⇒ x = 60y .................(1)

For aeroplane -

1900 - x = 700*(5 - y) ............(2)

Substituting the value of x = 60y in (2), we get.

⇒ 1900 - 60y = 3500 - 700y

⇒ - 60y + 700y = 3500 - 1900

⇒ 640y = 1600

⇒ y = 1600/640

⇒ y = 2.5  or 2 hours and 30 minutes.

So, time taken to complete the journey by bus is 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Now, substituting the value of y = 2.5 in (1)

x = 60y

⇒ x = 60*2.5

⇒ x = 150

So, distance travelled by bus is 150 km.
