Out of 3d and 4s which is more n+l value?

Calculation:

For 3d Orbital

Principal Quantum Number = n = 3

Azimuthal Quantum Number = l = 2

 \boxed{ \therefore \: n + l = 3 + 2 = 5}

For 4s Orbital:

Principal Quantum Number = n = 4

Azimuthal Quantum Number = l = 0

 \boxed{ \therefore \: n + l = 4 + 0= 4}

So, 3d orbital has a higher (n+l) value as compared to 4s. Hence 3d Orbital has higher energy content than 4s Orbital.
