Out of 60 watt bulb and 40 watt bulb which one has higher resistance when in use

Here, we are given two bulbs. One has a power of 60 Watts and the other has a power of 40 Watts. 


Now, when both bulbs are being used, they are going to receive the same voltage. 

Like, for example, In India, both would receive 220 V, 50 Hz. 

So, we know that the Voltage is going to be same when both bulbs are going to be used. 

We will use the following relation between Power, Voltage and Resistance.

P = \frac{V^2}{R}

Since, voltage is constant, we see that Power is inversely proportional to Resistance. 

This means that the bulb which has higher power has a lower Resistance. And the bulb which has a lower power has a higher resistance.

So, the 40 Watt Bulb has higher resistance when in use.
