Out of 80 students 45%, students passed in Mathematics and 60% students passed in English. If 35% students failed in both the subjects, how many students passed in both the subjects?
1.24
2.28
3.32
4.20

Answer: 32

45% of 80 = 36
60% of 80 = 48
Total passed = 80 - 35% of 80 = 80 - 28 = 52
passed in both = 48+36-52= 32

Given : Out of 80 students 45%, students passed in Mathematics and 60% students passed in English.

35% students failed in both the subjects

To Find :  how many students passed in both the subjects?

Solution:

Total = passed in Maths + passed in English - Passed in Both   + Passed in None

Passed in None =  failed in both the subjects = 35%

=> 100 %  = 45 % + 60 %  - Passed in Both   + 35%

=> Passed in Both  = 40%

40%  of 80  =  (40/100) 80 = 32

passed in both =  32
