Out of a pair of complementary angles, one is two-third of the other. Find the larger angle.

Let the first angle be a Second angle = 2a/3 According to question, a + 2a/3 = 90 => 5a/3 = 90 => a = 90x 3/5 => a = 18 x 3 => a = 54 First angle = 54° Second angle = 54x 2/3 = 18 × 3 = 36°

other angle 90-x

x = 2/3 of 90-x

3x = 2(90-x)

3x = 180 - 2x

5x = 180

x = 36

Larger angle = 90 - 36 = 54°
