covalent character in ionic compound : it is inversely proportional to size of cation. means, smaller the cation will have higher covalent character.

actually, smaller cations have higher charge density due to higher charge density , polarisation will be larger and hence, covent character will be higher.

here four ionic compound are ; FeCl2, SnCl2, AlCl3 and MgCl2 .

so, cations are ; Fe^2+, Sn^2+, Al^3+, Mg^2+

you know, size of Al^3+ is smallest. so, covalent character will be maximum in AlCl3 compound.
