★ Solution:

Let the total income be " x "

Given, Mrs Sharma spends 20% on house rent

Money left with her = ( 100 - 20 )%

= 80% of x

 \therefore \:  \dfrac{80}{100}x

Given, 70% of the rest on household expenditure

= ( 100 - 70 )%

= 30% remains.

 \implies \dfrac{30}{100}x \times  \dfrac{80}{100}x

Given, Mrs. Sharma saves Rs. 1800

step-by-step explanation:

 \implies \dfrac{30}{100}x \times  \dfrac{80}{100}x = 1800

 \implies \: x =  \dfrac{1800 \times 100}{24}

 = 300 \times 25

 \bf{ = Rs.7500}

Required Answer:

Total income of Mrs. Sharma is Rs. 7500.

Question

Out of total income Mrs .Sharma spends 20% on house rent and 70% of the rest in houseold expenditure. If she saves 1800. What is her total income ??

Given

  • Out of total income spend on house rent = 20%
  • 70% of the rest spend on houseold expenditure.
  • She saves 1800.

Required to Find

What is her total income ??

Solution

Let total income be = x

 \sf \: after \: spending \: 20 \: percent \: of \: x \: he \: has =  \dfrac{80}{100} x

After spending 70% of remaining he has

 \sf \:  \dfrac{30}{100}  \times  \dfrac{80}{100} x \\ \\ \\ \sf \dfrac{30}{100}  \times  \dfrac{80}{100} x = 1800 \\ \\ \\ \sf \: x =  \dfrac{1800 \times 100}{24}  = 300 \times 25 = 7500

Hence the total income of Mrs. Sharma is 7500

OR

 \sf \dfrac{x}{5} + \dfrac{28x}{50} + 1800 = x \\ \\ \sf \dfrac {10 x + 28x + 1800 (50)}{50} = x \\

38x + 90000 = 50x

90000 = 50x - 38 x

90000 = 12 x

 \sf x = \dfrac{90000}{12}

x = Rs. 7500

Hence the total income of Mrs.Sharma is Rs.7500.
