sodium can release easily because it's atomic radius is more and the nuclearvforce is less so that's why it can release easily.

Na (sodium) can loose the electrons easily because it has atomic number 11 and it can easily loose because it was near to the nucleus.


Of course K can also loose 1 electron and stable with Argon but it was far away from the nucleus
