Out of the 44 boys in a class 9 are of the age of 10, 15 at the age of 9, and the rest are at the age of 8. Find their average age?

Answer: Total no. of boys in class=44
No. of boys at the age of 10 = 9
No. of boys at the age of 9=15
No. of boys at the age of 8= total no. of boys - (no. of boys at the age of 10+no. of boys at the age of 9)
So,
No. of boys at the age of 8= 44-(9+15)
=44-24
=20
So,
Average=sum of ages÷total no. of boys
Then,
sum of ages= (8×20)+(9×15)+(10×9)
= 160+135+90
=385
Average=385÷44
=8.75

Therefore, average age of boys is 8.75
