Distance is the actual path covered by a moving body between the initial and final position. It has magnitude but no sense of direction.

Displacement is the shortest distance between the initial and final position of a moving body. It has magnitude as well as a sense of direction.

☆We know that,a quantity can be called as vector if it has magnitude as well as direction.

So,among distance and displacement, displacement is a vector quantity because it has both magnitude and direction whereas distance is a scalar quantity as it has only magnitude and not direction.
