Question :- Out of the following , Point __________ lies to the right of the origin on x - axis. ?

A) (-2,0)

B) (0,2)

C) (2,3)

D) (2,0)

Solution :-

we know that, cartisean system is divided in four part which is known as quadrant . Quadrant is divided by x - axis and y- axis.

  • In first quadrant we have = ( +, + )
  • In 2nd quadrant we have = ( -, +)
  • In 3rd quadrant we have = (-, -)
  • In 4th quadrant we have = ( +, - )

Now, if a point lies on x -axis , it is written as (±x, 0) .

  • Point lies on right of origin is (+x , 0).
  • Point lies on left side of origin is (-x , 0).

Conclusion :-

Point lies to the right of the origin on x - axis , we have,

  • y = 0 .
  • value of x is Positive.

from given points we have,

  • A) (-2,0) => x negative , y = 0 .
  • B) (0,2) => x = 0 , y positive.
  • C) (2,3) => x positive , y positive .
  • D) (2,0) => x Positive , y = 0 .

therefore, we can conclude that, Out of the following, point (D) (2,0) lies to the right of the origin on x - axis.
