Given :

1️⃣ x²+3

2️⃣ x³+3

3️⃣ x+3

4️⃣ x⁻¹ +3

To Find : Which one is linear polynomial

Solution:

Monomial

A monomial is number, a variable, or a product of numbers and variables with whole number exponents.

A polynomial is a monomial or a sum of monomials

Degree of a Monomial

When the exponents of all variables in a monomial are summed up, the resulting number is called the degree of the monomial.

Degree of a Polynomial

Degree of a polynomial is the highest degree of its monomials.

linear polynomial  has degree 1

Hence linear polynomial is of the form

ax  + b   where a ≠ 0

1️⃣ x²+3  has degree 2 so its Quadratic polynomial

2️⃣ x³+3 has degree 2 so its Cubic polynomial

3️⃣ x+3  has degree 1  and is of form ax  + b   a = 1  , b = 3

Hence its a linear polynomial

4️⃣ x⁻¹ +3   is not a polynomial as -1 is not a whole number  ( variable exponents should have been whole numbers )

So correct answer is  x + 3 is a linear polynomial

correct option is  3️⃣ x+3
