This is a very good question. Let me tell you buddy both washing and baking soda are alkaline in nature i.e both are basic in nature.
Baking soda is more neutral and is edible. As the name suggests they are used for baking purpose. They have a pH value of 8. Where as washing soda is more alkaline or basic in nature and tends to have a pH of 11.
