Typically the Deccan Plateau is made up of basalt extending up to Bhor Ghat near Karjat. This is an extrusive igneous rock.

Kaas Plateau is also known as the plateau of Maharastra that situated 25 Km west to the Satara City.

Kaas plateau is mostly made of Basalt  Rocks and one of the Sahyadri Sub Cluster of the Western Ghats.

The Kaas plateau has became the part of UNESCO’s World Heritage Site back in 2012.
