Dogs have several genes that govern their coat colour .  



Assume that you have selected a Black (BB) male dog and a brown (bb) female dog.

Crossbread them and produce F1 generation.

As black colour (B) is dominant, all F1 generation will be Black (Bb)  



Self crossing F1 generation :

When F1 generation is self crossed both black and brown offsprings are obtained
