The digestive system plays an important role in the absorption of nutrients into the body. It takes the food we ingest, breaks it down mechanically and chemically in the mouth and stomach. It then absorbs nutrients, fats, proteins and water in the intestines before eliminating the waste through the rectum.

ANSWER :

A. Carbohydrates

In mouth, an enzyme named Salivary Amylase, digests the starch (carbohydrates) and turns it into maltose.

In stomach, no digestion of carbohydrates takes place.

In small intestine, the polysaccharides (carbohydrates) are digested by Amylase and converts it into Disaccharadies.

B. Proteins

In mouth, digestion of proteins does not occur.

In stomach, proteins are digested into peptones as well as proteoses with the help of Pepsin enzyme.

In small intestine, proteins, proteoses, peptones are digested into  Dipeptides by the enzyme named Trypsin, Chymotrypsin and Carboxypeptidase.

C. Fats

In mouth, fats are not digested.

In stomach, fats are not broken.

In small intestine, the  fats are digested into diglyceride and monoglyceride by Lipases.
