Answer:

when you breath in or inhale your diaphragm contract and move downward .this increase the space in your chest cavity and your lungs expand into it.the muscles between your ribs also help enlarge the chest cavity . they contract to pull your ribcage both upwards and outward when you inhale .

during this process the chest wall expand out and away from the lungs .upon exhalation the lungs recoils to force the air out of the lungs

During inhalation, the lungs expand with air and oxygen diffuses across the lung's surface, entering the bloodstream.During inhalation, the diaphragm is contracted which increases the volume of the lung cavity. During exhalation, the diaphragm is relaxed which decreases the volume of the lung cavity.
