Overgrazing and Deforestation leads to soil infertility in many ways like :

# Removal of vegetation from an area reduces the amount of humans content in the soil.

# The plants/ Trees act as a protective layer to the soil. They reduce the impact of rain drops on the soil as rainwater would easily erode the top layer of the soil.

# Reduces the rate of evaporation of water which would lead to a decrease in the amount of rainfall in the area and this would result in accelerated deforestation.

# The hooves of the animals would "disturb" the soil layer as it becomes more easier for the wind to remove the finer soil particles.

# The roots hold the soil together and if the roots are removed, then this might result in sheet erosion.

# The raindrops would fall with pressure to the ground. And if there is no enough vegetation then this would result in splash erosion.
