Yes, definitely buying or selling of animals is wrong and is equivalent to cruelty or slavery
Explanation:
- Sometimes animals are "bought & sold" the purpose of entertainment. No animal would want to perform confusing, painful, & demeaning tricks, however, animals in circuses have no choice. Trainers often use violent & abusive tools, such as whips &electric prods, to force animals to perform.
- Not only are horses, elephants, birds, hippopotamuses, camels, dogs, & other animals often are abused and beaten by trainers, they also endure boredom, frustration, & loneliness, from being chained for months/locked in cramped cages as they travel around places.
- Rather than being unloaded & loaded like furniture into vehicles & warehouses, these animals must be living in their "natural habitats" – exploring, searching for mates & raising families.
- In the case of animals being kept in zoos, it is also cruel for animals. Within a certain area, ecosystem & environment, many wild animals have adapted to survive and are not fit for captivity confinement or containment. Unfortunately, while zoos sometimes do their best to "mimic" a specific natural environment, they often have no effect on their animals' behaviour & well-being.
- Regrettably, rehabilitation & breeding projects to protect some of the globe's most endangered species are nothing more than a publicity ploy in order to bring visitors into their doors. However if many Zoos believe that they have a mission statement which is ethically and socially consistent with other people, very little is achieved behind the scenes.
