Present populationof town =2,00,000

since , given that the rate of increase in population is 4% per annum . then ,

First year increase in population: _______________________________
= 4 % = 4% of total present population

= 4% of 2,00,000 = 0.04 × 2,00,000

= 8,000 citizens

population of town till second yr will be:
_______________________________
=present population + 4% increase in first year

= 2,00,000 + 8,000 = 2,08,000 citizens

second year increase in population :
_______________________________
= 4 % of 2,08,000

= 0.04 × 2,08,000 = 8320 citizens

population of town till third yr will be:
_______________________________
= population of town till second year + second year increase in population

= 2,08,000 + 8320 = 2,16,320 citizens

therefore population of town after 2 year will be = 2,16,320 citizens
