An oxidation-reduction (redox) reaction is a type of chemical reaction that involves a transfer of electrons between two species.

An oxidation-reduction reaction is any chemical reaction in which the oxidation number of a molecule, atom, or ion changes by gaining or losing an electron.

Hope this helps...

I didn't want to go too deep into organic chemistry as you might not be studying college syllabus.

Have a nice day!

Oxidation reaction

Oxidation is simply a process that involves loss of electrons or increase of oxidation state of an ion, atom or molecule.

It can be a spontaneous process or it may be started artificially. Once the element loses one or more electrons, it is nominated as oxidized element.

Sodium, magnesium and iron are some common metals that are easily oxidized while non metals nitrogen, chlorine and oxygen are not easily oxidized. Commonly, oxidation reactions are associated with the formation of oxides from oxygen molecules.

However, there are other examples also present that involve specific concept of reactions involving electron transfer.

Hope this may help you and be the brainliest ..

Keep smiling !
