oxidation and reduction processes occur simultaneously.When an element is oxidesed another element is reduced
E.G.-----
Fe2O3(s) + 2Al(s) → Al2O3(s) + 2Fe(l)
[ here Fe gets reduced and Al gets oxidised. ]

Here oxidation and reduction occurs at same time.
CuO get reduced
