\mathrm{CaO}_{2} is called Calcium Peroxide. Peroxide ions show special oxidation state of oxygen which is generally -1. Due to this, the oxidation number of Calcium remains its usual one which is -2.

This chemical is mostly used as a reactant to produce hydrogen peroxide. It is an odourless, whitish or yellowish granular textured powder. It is soluble in water and its dissolution is an exothermic reaction.

It has very high melting and boiling points (2613 and 3850 degree Celsius respectively).
