u mean oxidation number of hydrogen na?


In HCOOH, one of the two terminal H is liked with oxygen and oxygen being more electonegative displaces the hydrogen electro towards itself. Similarly the other hydrogen is linked with C and C being more electonegative pulls the hydrogen electron towards itself. Therefore both the H atoms have oxidation number of +1


Oxidation state of carbon is +2
