Oxidation of n-hexane in the presence of V2O5 gives benzene.
n-Alkanes having six or more carbon atoms on heating at very high temperature and high pressure in the presence of oxides of vanadium(V2O5), molybdenum(Mo2O3) or chromium (Cr2O3) supported over alumina get dehydrogenated and cyclised to benzene and its derivatives.
This reaction is known as aromatization reaction
