Explanation:

Hey Chill, its pretty simple.

Oxidation                                      Reduction

Oxygen is Added                         Hydrogen is Added

        OR                                                  Or

Hydrogen is Removed               Oxygen is Removed

OIL = 'O' - Oxidation                     RIG = ;R; - Reduction

'I' - Is                                               'I' - Is

'L'-Losing ELECTRONS                  'G' - Gaining Electrons

Eg:-

CUo + H2 = Cu + H2O

In this case Cu is losing oxygen and becoming Cu. Hence it is getting reduced. And on the other hand H2 is gaining oxygen . Hence it is getting oxidized. And for the oxidising agent and reducing agent is simple.

Over here the Oxidising agent is Cuo , but actually it is getting reduced so how can it be an oxidising agent? It is actually because of Cuo only H2 is getting oxidised. Similarly the Reducing agent is H2, but actually it is getting oxidised so how can it be an  Reducing agent? It is actually because of H2 only Cuo  is getting reduced.
