Q. oxygen and nitrogen are present in a mixture in the ratio 1:4 by weight.calculate the ratio between their molecules.

Ans:- Ratio of molecules of O2 and N2 = 7:32

Let wt. of given mixture = Wg

amount \: of \: oxygen \: in \: mixture =  \frac{w \times 1}{5} g =  \frac{w}{5} g

amount \: of \: nitrogen \: in \: mixture =  \frac{w \times 4}{5}  =  \frac{4w}{5} g

moles \: of \: oxygen \:  =  \frac{w}{5 \times 32}

molecules \: of \: oxygen \:  =  \frac{w}{5 \times 32}  \times 6.022  \times {10}^{23}

moles \: of \: nitrogen \:  =  \frac{4w}{5 \times 28}

molecules \: of \: nitrogen \:  =  \frac{4w}{5 \times 28}  \times 6.022 \times  {10}^{23}

ratio \: of \: molecules \: of \: oxygen \: and \: nitrogen \:  =

 \frac{w}{5 \times 32}  \times 6.022 \times  {10}^{23}  =  \frac{4w}{5 \times 28}  \times 6.022  \times {10}^{23}

 \frac{1}{32}  =  \frac{1}{7}

 \frac{7}{32} or \: 7 \: ratio \: 32

Answer:

____________________________

______________

______

____

Solution:-

______________

let weight of mixture =>Wg

Amount of O2 in mixture =>w x1/5* g

Amount of N2 in mixture =>w x 4/5* g

Ratio of moles of oxygen and nitrogen

=>w /5 x 32 * 6.022 x 10^23 =4w/5 x 28* 6.022 x 10^23

=>1/32=1/7

=>Ratio=>7:32

hope helps✊
