Our blood has haemoglobin pigment to trap O2 which is capable to trap O2 only at a certain pressure which is nearly equal to the pressure at the surface of the earth. Deep down in the sea pressure is extremely high which makes it difficult for haemoglobin to trap O2. However when excess of O2 is provided via the O2 cylinder, the concentration of O2 at the site of Haemoglobin increases and as a result O2 combines with the pigment making it possible for the divers to respire.
