Oxygen gas can be produced in the laboratory by decomposition of hydrogen peroxide 2H2O2(aq) gives 2 H2O(l) +O2(g) How many kg of O2(g) can be produced from 1.0 kg of hydrogen peroxide?

Explanation:

No of moles in 1kg of H2O2 = 1000/34

Also 2 mol of H2O2 produce 1 mol of O2 gas

so 2/1 = 1000/34x( x =no of moles of O2 gas)

x = 14.70 moles

No of moles = Mass / Molar mass

Mass = 32 * 14.70

          = 470.40 grams

          = 0.470 kg
