Yes. Oxygen is necessary for complete oxidation of glucose because if oxygen is not present, then the breaking down of glucose produces pyruvate acid and alcohol. The energy produced is also very less comparatively. So, when oxygen is present, glucose gets completely oxidized and also lots of energy is produced along with water and carbon dioxide.
