Hey
Here's your answer !!
__________
Oxygen ( O2 ) and ( H2 ) both are non metals .
So , in a water molecule , Oxygen molecule binds to hydrogen in water by a covalent molecule in which electrons are shared .
Two hydrogen and one oxygen molecule combines to form water ( H2O ) .
Each hydrogen shares one electron with the oxygen molecule and the oxygen molecule shares one electron each with the hydrogen atoms .
So , there are 6 electrons of the the oxygen molecule which do not take part in the bonding . Hence , there are 3 lone pairs.
__________
Hope it helps !!
