this is because of large difference melting and boiling point of oxygen and sulphur

oxygen is a diatomic molecule and sulphur is polyatomic molecule.

Due to small size and high electronegativity oxygen forms pπ-pπ

multiple bonds

As a result oxygen exists as diatomic molecule (O2)

Due to its bigger size and lower electronegativity sulphur does not forms pπ-pπ multiple bonds

Consequently , sulphur because of its high tendency of catenation and lower tendency of pπ - pπ multiple bonds forms octa atomic (S8) molecules having eight membered puckered ring structure
