Explanation:

Forests are major carbon sinks and are a "green lung" for because they clean the air, remove dust particles, and produce oxygen. An international team agrees that forests are ecosystems binding large amounts of carbon, thus retarding CO2 accumulation in the atmosphere and the potential for climate change.

Answer:

Human beings need oxygen to survive. Also human beings are the one who are polluting the environment by their careless activities such as cutting trees and misusing natural resources but human beings forget that they will also be harmed if greenhouse gas Carbon dioxide gets increased in the atmosphere.

Forest is said to be the lungs of the earth . Forest is the place where many trees grow together making it a dense area. The trees grown there produced a large amount of oxygen by taking in carbon dioxide. In simple words it filters the dirt in the air and makes it available to the living organisms same way as the lungs of the human body do. This is how forest acts as green lungs.
