x = \frac{-4 + 2}{2}

x = \frac{-2}{2}

x = -1

So now we have the x co-ordinate of the midpoint. Now we have to find y, it is the same formula

y = \frac{y1 + y2}{2}

y = \frac{3 + 5}{2}

y = \frac{8}{2}

y = 4

Now we have the y co-ordinate of the midpoint, so the midpoint is

(x, y) = (-1, 4)
